I have wanted to write about this for a long time. Some know it – some don’t.
For those who don’t know – this is a longer story. Did you know that our beloved beagles are used for laboratory experiments? We go to our little corner in Denmark and think everything is fine.
But there are many horrors around the world – and now I want to tell you about one of them that I myself am shocked, angry and sad about. And it is all the many beagles that every single day – all year round live a miserable life as lab dogs.
Unfortunately, because of its sociability, the beagle is a dog that is most often used in laboratories. They are exposed to disgusting experiments. This applies to all kinds of pain – inhalation of smoke. They have their skin cut off and several other nasty things, just so that we humans can buy creams, cosmetics, medicine, etc.
Here in Denmark, there are also beagles in laboratories and although they are bred specifically for that, it is animal cruelty. Other animals are also used – mice and monkeys to name a few.
Back to the beagles – these poor dogs often come from far away. Examples have been seen from Copenhagen airport where the beagles are a stopover – to be flown on to other destinations
The USA is one of the countries in the world that has used/uses the most beagles for experiments.
In the USA, there are many animal welfare organizations that do volunteer work to rescue these dogs from labs. You can donate money to them. I follow several of these organizations myself on Instagram. Through them, I have witnessed the Ridglan Farms scandal.
Ridglan Farms is a so-called breeder organization that only breeds beagles for lab experiments. They are of all ages – including puppies.
Through April and May 26, various animal organizations have rescued 1,500 beagles – they have simply bought them free.
In June, another 610 beagles were rescued – and the remaining are expected to be released in the near future. In total, there are 2,110 beagles.
All the many volunteers – have taken the beagles in. Those that have been saved – are now being socialized and helped to people who want them. Some of the beagles have been so sick that they have had to be euthanized.
And finally some good news – because it has been decided that Ridglan Farm will be closed permanently.
All these experimental labs have now also come under the scrutiny of the US Secretary of Health, Robert Kennedy. He is now working very hard to put an end to all kinds of animal experiments – not only dogs/beagles – but also monkeys which are used a lot over there. He is working towards experiments now being carried out in a different way.
I will be following these cases closely in the coming time and will update as soon as I find new information.
