Today, we wanted to see how Nova felt about wearing a harness in the garden—and what she thought about being attached to a leash.
Getting the harness on went “reasonably” well. But the leash—that was a different story.
And here, Nova showed a new side of herself—though we’ve seen hints of it before. Being the puppy she is, she has well and truly reached the “Tasmanian Devil” phase. She was rolling around just like an alligator—naturally! We had to spend quite a bit of time rescuing the poor leash from Nova’s sharp little teeth.
Eventually, we succeeded, and we were able to “go for a little walk” in the garden. Well, we walked, while Nova performed her signature “bunny hops.” She tends to get quite “bouncy” whenever she’s excited about something.
On another note, she’s shown that she can bark. She barks at the bird feeders—perhaps they make noises in the wind? She hasn’t barked at anyone passing by on the sidewalk yet—but I suppose that will happen eventually.
The red harness is still a bit too big for her, and a purple Puppia harness is on the way—so we’ll have two to rotate between. The Puppia might be the better choice. I used one for Darwin, too, while he was growing up.
Once Nova is fully grown, she’ll get a 3 Ponti harness—just like the other three had. They are the best, and they’re practically indestructible.
