I am experimenting with the setup of Nova’s sleeping crate. This is where she will sleep at night for the time being, until she can hold her bladder for longer periods. The goal is for her to eventually sleep in a dog bed. A gate has been installed between the bedroom and the hallway so that Nova cannot wander onto the stairs. The stairs are off-limits while her bones are still developing; she will be carried up and down to and from the bedroom.
All our previous beagles have slept in the bedroom, each in their own bed. As adults, they walked up and down the stairs on their own.
We plan to follow the same approach with Nova.
